If have never played an Adamas, your point is moot. It's a completely different guitar from an Ovation, the owners list reads like a who's who of guitarists. But driving an old Chevy Vega won't give you an idea what driving a Corvette is like even if they are from the same manufacturer.
I am not an Ovation guitar fan either. I pretty much agree about them...they would be way down my list.
Ovations are midrange heavy...which makes them easy to mike up on stage.
The regular Ovation is a decent road guitar, they survive well. I wouldn't take my 40 year old acoustic on a tour, it probably wouldn't make it thru.
